Official release of geospatial information application platform "mapry" for DX in the fields of forestry, surveying, disaster prevention, and agriculture

Mapry Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Tanba City, Hyogo Prefecture, Representative Director: Keiji Yamaguchi, hereinafter referred to as “Mapry”) has released the official version of the application “mapry” for improving the efficiency of sites such as forestry, agriculture, surveying, and civil engineering.

■ Background
Mapli is a company that develops and provides the application “MAPRY” for centrally managing forest information and efficiently determining forest boundaries, forest surveys, operations, disaster prevention, etc. In addition to providing GIS applications for forest management, where efficient data acquisition and utilization have not been done so far, we have also provided services to acquire and analyze three-dimensional information at low cost using remote sensing such as LiDAR.

■ Introduction of MAPRY
Japan’s forests occupy about 70% of the country’s land area, and Japan is one of the world’s leading forest countries. In recent years, we have been facing these social problems, such as serious damage caused by the frequent occurrence of landslides, global warming, and animal damage. We will solve these issues by conducting efficient and sound forest management, improve the productivity of forestry management such as afforestation and logging, and develop applications to support the following local industries and contribute to the development of local communities.

(1) Forests
In forest surveys such as the Tree Survey, what used to be measured manually or with expensive equipment and transferred the data to a PC for processing is automatically measured with LiDAR at low cost using only a smartphone or tablet to calculate the diameter and material volume of the chest height with high accuracy. At the same time, vegetation and topography can be acquired, so forest surveys for various purposes can be streamlined, and analysis and sharing and utilization are provided in a one-stop manner by consolidating them into GIS (Geographic Information System).

(2) Survey
By measuring images and LiDAR with only smartphones and tablets, we propose a new survey method that is easy to use at low cost. In addition, by using the optional RTK device, it is possible to measure in cm and to survey in mm by using a reference point, and anyone can easily use analysis and display from the acquisition of 3D information without the need for expensive equipment and software.

(3) Disaster prevention and mitigation
By aggregating and analyzing aerial surveys, drone survey data, data acquired with smartphones and tablets, etc., it is possible to visualize the risk of landslide disasters and the like. In addition, by using the real-time 3D simulation function, it can be used for decision-making in disaster prevention operations and for building consensus among related parties.

(4) Agriculture
In recent years, agricultural robots have been developed for weeding, transportation, harvesting, and autonomous driving, but robots that incorporate software by incorporating various devices have become expensive and have become a barrier for users to introduce.
Therefore, we propose robot development using smartphones and tablets, and by performing remote sensing and software processing within the application, we are contributing to the development of inexpensive and user-friendly robots. In addition, robot developers can reduce development costs by speeding up the development speed.
