(headquartered in Tamba City, Hyogo Prefecture; Keiji Yamaguchi, President; hereinafter “Maply”), SBI Sumishin Net Bank, Limited (headquartered in Minato-ku, Tokyo; Noriaki Maruyama, President (CEO); hereinafter “SBI Sumishin Net Bank”), THEMIX Green Co: (Head office: Minato-ku, Tokyo; President: Takumi Takahashi; hereinafter “THEMIX Green”; a subsidiary of SBI Sumishin Net Bank), Salesforce Japan Co. (headquartered in Matsue City, Shimane Prefecture; Yoshio Suzuki, President; hereinafter “Shimane Bank”) have signed an agreement with Yasugi City to contribute to the realization of a forestry and forestry DX and to become carbon neutral.

■Background
MAPRY, SBI Sumishin Net Bank, THEMIX Green, and Salesforce have agreed to jointly build a digital platform business for forestry and forestry administration DX business and carbon credit issuance by leveraging the strengths of each company and integrating their respective services and know-how. Through this project, the companies will work to maximize the value of forests. Through this project, the four companies aim to maximize the value of forests, reduce environmental impact, and contribute to the development of a sustainable society.

In addition, SBI Sumishin Net Bank and THEMIX Green have agreed to partner with Shimane Bank to achieve local production for local consumption of J-credits issued in Shimane Prefecture and to offset carbon emissions in Shimane Prefecture.

*The J-Credit System is a system under which the government certifies as “credits” the amount of CO2 emission reductions resulting from the introduction of energy-saving equipment and the use of renewable energy, as well as the amount of CO2 absorption resulting from appropriate forest management. This system is a developmental integration of the Domestic Credit System and the Offset Credit System (J-VER), and is administered by the government.

■Details of Agreement with Yasugi City
The five companies have signed an agreement with Yasugi City to cooperate and collaborate on the following matters in order to realize Yasugi City’s forestry and forestry policy DX and to contribute to the city’s carbon neutrality.

(1) Verification of business schemes for the creation and sale of forest-derived credits
(2) Matters related to DXing of various application procedures related to forestry
(3) Matters related to the establishment of a forestry platform and DXing of the timber supply chain

■Future Development
In the future, we will collaborate with other municipalities to establish business models for forestry DX projects and carbon credit projects, and will also consider the creation of credits other than those derived from forests and the establishment of carbon offsetting methods.
