MAPLEY Corporation Signs Agreement with Sagamihara City to Realize Forestry DX
Sagamihara City and MAPLEY Co.(headquartered in Tamba City, Hyogo Prefecture; Keiji Yamaguchi, President; hereinafter “Maply”), SBI Sumishin Net Bank, Limited (headquartered in Minato-ku, Tokyo; Noriaki Maruyama, President (CEO); hereinafter “SBI Sumishin Net Bank”), Temikus Green Co. (headquartered in Minato-ku, Tokyo; Takumi Takahashi, President; hereinafter “Temix Green”), and Salesforce Japan Co. The agreement will be signed on October 19, 2023 (Thursday).
■Background
MAPLEY, SBI Sumishin Net Bank, Temix Green, and Salesforce have agreed to jointly build a forestry and forestry administration DX business and a digital platform business for issuing carbon credits by leveraging the strengths of each company and integrating their respective services and know-how. Preparations are underway for the establishment of a business promotion structure.
■Details of Agreement with Sagamihara City
As the first step of this initiative, by signing an agreement and forming a partnership with Sagamihara City, we will cooperate in the creation of J-credits(*) from forests, the study of sales schemes (utilization of the J-credit system), and the DXing of various application procedures through the introduction of forestry platforms and other measures.
※ J-Credit System
This is a system under which the government certifies the amount of CO2 and other greenhouse gas emission reductions and absorption through the introduction of energy-saving and renewable energy facilities, forest management, and other initiatives as “credits”.
Issued credits can be used for carbon offsets and other measures to combat global warming, and can also be sold to companies and other entities seeking credits for profit.
■Future Development
In the future, we will collaborate with other municipalities to establish business models for forestry DX projects and carbon credit projects, and will also consider the creation of credits other than those derived from forests and the establishment of carbon offsetting methods.
